Todd and Julie Chrisley, stars of the reality TV show Chrisley Knows Best, were convicted in June 2022 on charges of bank fraud and tax evasion. Todd received a 12-year prison sentence, while Julie was sentenced to seven years.
Appeals and Resentencing
In June 2024, the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals vacated Julie Chrisley's sentence, citing insufficient evidence for losses attributed to her before 2007. This led to a resentencing hearing in September 2024, where Julie tearfully apologized for her actions. Despite her plea and letters of support from family members, the judge reinstated her original seven-year sentence, emphasizing the severity of her fraudulent activities.
Todd Chrisley's conviction and 12-year sentence were upheld by the appellate court. His legal team is pursuing further appeals, including filing a motion under Section 2255 for ineffective assistance of counsel.
Current Status
As of January 2025, Todd Chrisley is serving his sentence at Federal Prison Camp in Pensacola, Florida, with a projected release date in 2033. Julie Chrisley is incarcerated at Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, with an expected release in 2028.
Their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, has taken on the role of guardian for her younger siblings, Grayson and Chloe. She continues to advocate for her parents, expressing concerns about the legal process and the impact on their family.
The Chrisley family's legal battles have led to the cancellation of their reality show and ongoing discussions about the fairness of their trial and sentencing. Supporters remain hopeful for a favorable outcome in their continued appeals.
